Before and After

After I wrote that last post I wanted to really look at how far my hair has come since I cut it in March.  You can really tell the difference.  I was asked would I ever get it straightened again and I think I will.  I will just do things differently.  I think I will get my hair straightened in May for my daughter's graduation :-)

So this was my hair in March 2012 after i had to cut it.

Something NEW

So last night I was watching YouTube to find a new way to wear my hair.  I have been praying to the hair gods and my hair is growing.  My twist outs and puff are cute but I need something new.. so I saw this two stand twist braid thingy...so I tried it.  One day I am going to be brave and do a YouTube video.  I think when my hair grows longer maybe I will.  Then that means I will have to learn how to do make up because those ladies look good...but that is another story... lol  This is day one:

As you can see my hair has grown sincce March..( i know you remember that hair straightening fiasco). Now I think my hair looks cute like this with the length..if only it would stay like that, but anyone with natural hair knows the shrinkage is so bad.

So i hope this turns out great...so i can add this to the number of hair styles i can do...I will post pictures of the finished product good or bad :-))

My most dreaded three words

Yes "Low Tire Pressure" are the three words I dread.  This warning came on last night as I was driving home.  The anxiety builds..I'm worried will I make it to the gas station to put air in my tire.  So I am at the gas station in the cold bending over trying to put the air in my tire......The bad thing about this message is that it doesn't tell you which tire so you have to look and guess.  This is the time when I am screaming GOD WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!!! lol.  Relax guys....I don't just want a husband so he can change my tire, but it is nice to have some who would  take care of things like this on a permanent basis..WHAT!!! DONT JUDGE ME!!!  :-).  So I will go this morning to get my tire checked out.  #NOFUN

New Years resolution???

Today I was reflecting on the new year and what I want to accomplish.  Last year I wrote a note to myself about things i wanted to accomplish in 2013.  I actually accomplish two of my goals.  I purchased a house this year and I completed my first year of college.  YEAHHHH ME!!!!! lol.  Things I didn't accomplish...I am still not dating...but I have put this one on hold.  I think God knows whats best for me and maybe dating is not supposed to be on my agenda right now..I am trusting him.   So what is in store for me in  2013....I don't know but I am very excited about what ever is to come.  My daughter is graduating in May so that mean I need to start to plan for a graduation party....woot woot!!! lol.  I am in my last year of school so I need to be very FOCUSED!!!  I want to do some painting in my house, my bedroom and the den.  Still trying to decide what colors I want but I am excited about making my house more about me and my family.  Traveling this year....a family cruise and going to Jamaica on a girls trip...that means I need to get on my work out schedule so I can be two piece ready...lol

So I don't know if those are really new year resolutions...i just think those are some of the things on my agenda.  I have so much more but I wasn't willing to share those...they were personal...:-).  I look forward to trying to make those things happen in 2013.

New Product to try: Beautiful Textures

My drawer of natural products is becoming empty.  I need something new bad!!! Yes My name is Nicole Harris and I am a product junkie....lol  I picked this product up from Sally's beauty supply.  I am going to twist my hair with it tonight.  I hope my twist out turns out good.   I will post some pictures later.  I am also thinking about recoloring my hair...My hair is growing and I have black roots...so I got to clean that up!! lol

Failing

Do you know the feeling that you get when, you feel like something is wrong.  Well I got that feeling the day I took my last test this semester.  I was taking Statistics and online accounting and it was pretty brutal.  I got the hang of the accounting but never got the hang of the statistics.  Needless to say I got a B in my online accounting class and I got a D in my statistics.  In the back of my mind I knew I didn't pass when I took the final exam.  I had to blog about it because I have just been beating myself up about it.  I spoke to other classmates and they felt the same way about the class but it didn't make me feel any better.  I felt like such a failure.  But after a good cry and talking to one of my good friends, he reminded me that I am 38 years old, not a spring chicken anymore, so as long as I did my best, I shouldn't feel bad.  But I don't really think I did my best.  With facilitating 3 trainings a week it was hard to keep with with both of my classes no matter how hard I tried.  I am in the home stretch of my degree and I have got to stay focus.  So I will be taking the class over again and hopefully the second time is a charm :-))

Pinterest Party

My very first Pinterest Party!!! Yeahhhhh!!! I am so excited about going to this party.   What is a Pinterest Party you might ask?  Im not sure but at this party everyone was asked to bring a dish of something that they pinned off of Pinterest.  So the dish I made was Hot Spinach and Artichoke Heart cheese dip!! OMG it is so good.  This is my second time making it.

Day Three - Staining and Polyurethane

Today is the day!! We get to stain my table with a color....we are using Mahogany...since I am not doing the chairs I needed to find a color that matched really close to the color.  Check out my finished product......

 

 

 

S Hooks!!

I am trying to figure out what to do to my closet...I want to keep it organize and free up some space.  I was looking in a Martha Stewart Magazine and there was an interesting article about how to organize your closet.  The article talked about using "S" hooks to hang up your purses.  Remember when I told you I was in Home Depot, those were the hooks I was looking for.  I didn't find them.  I ordered them off of my old faithful "Amazon"  NowI can get my purses off the floor.. I used  ten hooks...that told me that I need more purses so I can use all 20 hooks!!! lol

Day 2 - Sanding and Staining I think...

 

 

Today we are finishing sanding the table..we have stripped it and now its in its natural state.  I kinda like the table this way...its so natural..lol  So next we need to put this stuff on the wood to give it some sort of shine...and let it sit for a day I guess...i am not sure if it should be that long but with my schedule I needed some days....

 

 

 

 

Day One - Sanding the table

Today is the day I will finally start to sand my table.  I am so excited about this project.  Of course I have enlisted help because I really dont have a clue on what I am doing...lol

Pinterest.....my new LOVE

 

 

 

 

Man....I discovered Pinterest....I don't know why I haven't been on there sooner...OMG!!! I am a pinning fool!!! I find my self everywhere checking to see what has been updated on my pinterest.  I pin everything....food, clothes, eyes makeup, men, wedding ideas...I mean you name it I pin it!! lol

I am pinning ideas for the home also...things I want to try.  I started making dishes that I find on pinterest on Fridays...I am expanding my pallet!! I am too excited....Shouts out to the creators!!! lol



Twist out using Design Essential

 

I wore my twist for about 2 days because I wanted a really defined set of twist.   As you can see below...they turned out really good.  I also noticed that I need to get my hair recolored...Color those black roots!!! lol

 

 

Fro Fashion Weekend!!!

Pack your bags!!! We are off to Fro Fashion Week.  I am so excited...I can't wait to see what products I will receive this time...I was ready for a much needed break from everything...kids, work, people...i just need to let my hair down...well I mean let my fro fly free!!! lol

Anyway...we went to the penthouse party, a fashion show, bar one and atlantic station...all in all I had a wonderful weekend...please enjoy the pictures...
